Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Baghchung, Jorhat, carried out a humanitarian flood-relief drive in three locations under Khelua Gram Panchayat in Sivasagar district, reaching around 400 families affected by the recent floods. The school team reached out especially to villages where relief materials had not reached adequately due to heavy waterlogging and difficult accessibility. The affected families were provided with dry ration, bottled drinking water, emergency kits and other essential household materials, including tarpaulins, towels, bedsheets, mosquito nets, buckets, sanitary pads, soap, torches, stationery items, basic medical supplies and other daily necessities. The relief initiative was carried out with the support of the school management, donors, parents, students, alumni and other well-wishers of Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Baghchung, Jorhat. A team of around 30 teaching staff, along with the Principal and Vice-Principal, personally travelled to the affected areas and distributed the relief materials to families in genuine need. Despite the difficult road conditions and the challenges caused by the floodwaters, the team made every effort to reach the affected people and ensure that the assistance was distributed in an orderly and meaningful manner. The initiative reflected the spirit of compassion, solidarity and social responsibility that Don Bosco institutions seek to promote among their students and the wider community. The school community expressed its sincere gratitude to the school management and to all the donors, parents, students, alumni and well-wishers whose generous support and cooperation made it possible to reach the flood-affected families and provide them with essential assistance during this difficult time.
